District 36 Postseason Play Kicks Off with Big Wins and Strong Starts
The 2025 Little League postseason officially got underway across Texas East District 36 on Friday, June 13, with teams from five divisions stepping onto the diamond for their opening games. Despite a week of heavy rain in the Greater Houston area, fields were prepped and ready for action, and players wasted no time making their mark.
In the Minor (8-9-10) division, dominant performances were the story of the day. Alvin opened with a statement 19-1 win over Brazoria, while Lamar and Rosenberg each posted commanding 16-1 victories against Angleton and Sugar Land, respectively. Needville shut out Brazoswood 4-0 to round out the bracket.
The 9-10-11 division saw Lamar blank Needville 12-0 behind a strong all-around showing, and Alvin edged past Brazoswood 6-3 to advance.
In Major (10-11-12) play, Angleton held off Brazoswood 3-2 in a tight contest. Sugar Land powered past Brazoria 15-3, Needville defeated Alvin 9-2, and West Sugar Land posted a 14-3 win over Rosenberg.
Intermediate (50/70) action was limited, as Sugar Land does not have a team in this year’s tournament, giving Rosenberg a pass. Meanwhile, Alvin and Brazoswood combined for a high-scoring battle, with Alvin coming out on top 20-13.
Finally, in the Junior division, Needville delivered a 17-0 shutout over Alvin, and Angleton rolled to a 14-5 win against Rosenberg.District 36 play continues throughout the week with more games scheduled across the region. Stay tuned for more highlights and results as teams battle for the right to represent the district at sectionals and beyond.
